"Where's Leon? now occupies a special spot on my bookshelf, next to From Head to Toe by Eric Carle, Quick as a Cricket by Don and Audrey Wood, and In the Attic by Hiawyn Oram and Satosui Kitamura, each book inspiring young readers (and listeners) into action."

my kids favorite...My two girls absolutely LOVE this book. I loved it so much, I contacted the author and asked her to read it to my daughter's Kindergarten class. All 21 kids enjoyed the beautiful images, the juicy language and adored the characters. My girls can't hear the word "cookie" without quoting the book: "Ooey, gooey, moist and chewy chocolate chip cookies".This book is a great book for inspiring little ones to move! We can't wait for Mrs. Cassell's next masterpiece! J. Nicholas-Walker

I stumbled upon this treasure while searching for a book that would promote early literacy skills as well as movement. I am an elementary school teacher with a wide range of levels of readers contained in one class. I look forward to sharing this book with my students as I know they will cherish it as much as I do. It is a delightful story full of wonderful "gifts" on each and every page. Readers of all ages will be touched by the adorable message presented in this story. It deserves an A+ in my book! M. I used this book to enhance literacy skills through a creative movement class for children K-2 grade in a Dallas public school. Nervous because it was my first time being an artist in residency in my work as a dance/movement therapist, this book was the answer to my prayers- what child does not like ladybugs, let alone Ooey, gooey, chocolate chip cookies. Once I began reading to them they were engaged and ready to learn through movement. What I loved about this story are the endless possibilities in which to explore basic dance concepts, especially with the help of the reader's guide/CD ROM. The last class was the best, as I dressed up as a ladybug, the children danced around the room trying to find Leon, and finally flying home to surprise chocolate chip cookies I brought for them that they "ate and ate"- we had so much fun! I can't wait to share this book again, as the smiles and laughter from children make this work so rewarding. - Suzy Rossol Matheson, MA, ADTR, NCC
Entering the world of Leon and Lulu is truly a magical experience! As an ESL teacher in an elementary school, I found the book and teacher's guide a valuable teaching tool for my classes in grades K through 2. The students were mesmerized by the story and the elements of movement that were incorporated in the guide. They asked to have it read over and over again! I also used Where's Leon to teach vocabulary, prepositions and verbs. I will most certainly use the book again next year in my classroom. There are so many more possibilities that I didn't even touch this year! What a way to teach fiction/non-fiction or to introduce a unit on insects.... Thanks to Jody and Kyra for creating Leon and Lulu. I hope this is the first of many books! J. Crippen
